I wish I could say I’m back in the mindset of school, now
that we’re starting our 3rd week, but I’m honestly not. The summer
mind set is always taking precedence, especially on weekends, more specifically
those classless Fridays I have that I convinced everyone I would use for
studying. No such thing.
Because I’m stuck in this endless summer I had a wonderful
and carefree weekend, not worrying about school at all. Filled with friends, parties, family, and
adventures, a solid and refreshing Friday through Sunday had me a little more
prepared then usual for Mondays challenges than usual.

I wont bore you with a play by play of people and places since I'm sure the pictures are enough, I’ll stick to this: my favorite part of the weekend was Sunday morning, I woke
up early (kind of early….930AM) and drove to John Latsch State Park with two of
my good friends (and thankfully future roomies!) The trail was an intense 500
stairs leading up to a beautiful overlook of the Mississippi below, and
Wisconsin bluffs directly across. The trail was rated “difficult”, and I would
agree with that for many reasons. The main two being the INTENSE cardio of the
endlessly steep stairs, and second the continuous swatting motion to get rid of
every single mosquito and spider web that had accumulated since the last
explorer made it to the top. By the looks of it the trail isn’t frequented too
often.

Overall I would do it again (hopefully with less breaks next
time.) and highly recommend it to anyone else who wants to have an amazing ass,
because if you’re doing that trail often you inevitably will.
Sundays should always be started with a challenge. Every new
hike I take in Winona brings me to a new perspective and love of this riverside
town.
Besides the stress of not getting back into the flow of
things, I have never felt more content and happy with being back then I was
today (a progression of Sundays good feelzzz).
I woke up to a cold room this morning, which hadn’t happened
in quite awhile. I was thrilled to not be waking up feeling nauseous in a pool
of my own sweat as I had the past week (with the temperature starting in the
70s). I was so incredibly happy that I forgot it was Monday and treated it like
my favorite day of the week, THURSDAY. Thursdays for me involve sweatpants,
Birkenstocks, making sure I have time to eat breakfast, and driving myself to
school instead of the bus or walking. Clearly Thursdays are an incredibly
joyous time for me. Once in class I began to remember why I hated Mondays, but
hey. The weather continued to stay crisp and fall like throughout most of the
day, which carried a blissful feeling of transition. Its impossible to be in school
mode when my head is screaming that its summer so the fall weather was a nice
change. I ended my last class with a coffee from Mugby, because its faux
Thursday and I obviously had to treat myself to end a great day at school. Now
off to work and dreams of a fantastic rest of week and real Thursday just a few
days away J
